Canada-China IoT and Blockchain Research Institute (CCIOTCHAIN) comes to Wuxi City

WUXI, China, June 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- On June 24th, the Canada-China IoT and Blockchain Research Institute(CCIOTCHAIN) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Wuxi New District and established its first branch institute in China to facilitate the development of IoT and blockchain technology.
Richard Zhou, co-chairman of the SDChain Alliance (www.sdchain.io) and Canada-China IoT and Blockchain Research Institute, signed the agreement on behalf of the institute. Xiaomin Li, member of the standing committee of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and party secretary of Wuxi Municipal Party Committee as well as Guozhi Chen, director of the International Trade Department of Ontario, Canada, attended the signing ceremony.
The Canada-China IoT and Blockchain Research Institute (CCIOTCHAIN) was founded in Toronto, Canada. The initial members included JianquanYao, academician of CAS (The Academy of Sciences of China); Jie Shen, general team leader of the National IoT Foundation Standards Working Group and chief editor of the Internet of Things Reference Architecture (IoT RA) ISO / IEC; Lirong Zheng, a distinguished professor of China's National "Thousand Talents Program" and dean of the School of Information Science and Technology, Fudan University; Faud A.Khan, chairman of the Canada International Organization for Standardization (ISO / IEC SC27); Dan Zhang, academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and professor of York University; Wang Xian Bin, academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and president of Canada 5G communications research; and other well-known Canadian academicians.
The Canada-China IoT and Blockchain Research Institute in Wuxi is the first branch institute in China. Wuxi City, which is the national sensor network innovation demonstration area, started development of the IoT earlier than most areas and promoted it faster. Consequently, Wuxi achieved excellent results that give the city some disclosure power and first mover advantages in the field of IoT.
The institute will make full use of the industrial foundation and ecological environment of the IoT industry in Wuxi to facilitate the thorough integration of IoT and blockchain applications with all the resources from different industrial segments. It will strategically cooperate with a wide range of organizations from many fields, including those in industry-university research, innovative scientific research and personnel training to create a new integration development mode of the IoT and blockchain.
On April 30th, the Canada-China IoT and Blockchain Research Institute (CCIOTCHAIN) along with the SDChain Alliance jointly organized The China-Canada Internet of Things and Blockchain Innovation and Development Summit 2018, which is aimed at facilitating the application of IoT and blockchain and enhancing the contribution to blockchain technology innovation and commercialization.
The Canada-China IoT and Blockchain Research Institute not only generates the top IoT resources from Canada and China, but it is also a very important strategic cooperation platform for SDChain ecosystem development. It undertakes two important missions, which are promoting the demonstration application for the global IoTand blockchain industry, and facilitating the standardization for IoT and blockchain.
