Canal Insurance Company Appoints David Pauly To Board Of Directors

GREENVILLE, S.C., Sept. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Canal Insurance Company is pleased to announce that David Pauly joined its Board of Directors, effective September 1, 2014.

Mr. Pauly brings to the Board extensive experience in the insurance industry, including his most recent role as chairman and chief executive officer of Capitol Insurance Companies ("Capitol"), a position from which he retired in 2013, after more than a decade with the company. Capitol, based in Middleton, Wisconsin, is a subsidiary of Alleghany Corporation.

Previously, Pauly served as chief operating officer of Heritage Mutual (now Acuity), an insurer he initially joined as a claims adjuster later serving in progressive leadership positions over a 20-year period.

Mr. Pauly has numerous insurance industry credentials, including membership in the Society of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) and designation as a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). He has been on the CIC faculty since 1983 and currently teaches CIC courses throughout the United States.
