BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Cancer Nursing Today, an online news source for nurses and advanced practitioners in oncology, today announced that Tamiesha Huntley, BSN, RN, CCRN, a clinical nurse, level IV, in intensive care at New York's Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, is the recipient of the Fourth Annual Cancer Nursing Today CARE Award.
A property of Formedics, Cancer Nursing Today promotes shared learning and professional collaboration to improve patient outcomes. The publication's annual CARE Award recognizes oncology nurses and advanced practitioners who provide exceptional cancer care across the continuum.
Ms. Huntley learned she received the CARE Award during a surprise celebration at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and reflected on what the recognition means to her.
"It was a big milestone and so warm. I was very emotional," she said. "I'm still emotional about it because I'm seeing that the work that is being done is being recognized, and that is wonderful."
Ms. Huntley has been a bedside critical care nurse since 2006. She leads quality improvement initiatives, participates in shared governance, coaches and mentors nurses, and works with colleagues across disciplines to develop practical solutions that support healthcare teams and improve patient care.
Becca deDufour, MSN, RN, CCRN, of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, nominated Ms. Huntley for the award.
"When I heard Tamiesha won, I could not have been happier, as it recognizes what those of us who work alongside her see every single day," Ms. deDufour said. "She consistently pushes herself and others to grow, leads by example in very challenging moments, and has the special ability to make sure patients, families, and colleagues feel heard, supported, and valued. Tamiesha embodies all components of the CARE Award, not just as a nurse and leader, but in the way she shows up for anyone and everyone."
Ms. Huntley was among four CARE Award finalists chosen by a blinded selection committee of oncology nurses and advanced practitioners. Following the selection, the Cancer Nursing Today readership and oncology nursing community voted to determine who would receive this year's Award.
"We are proud to honor Tamiesha Huntley with the Fourth Annual Cancer Nursing Today CARE Award in recognition of her exceptional commitment to advancing patient care and nursing excellence," said Helen Moran, Chief Content and Product Officer at Formedics. "Through her leadership in quality improvement, dedication to evidence-based practice, and passion for mentoring and empowering fellow nurses, she exemplifies the values that the CARE Award was created to celebrate."
The CARE Award offers a valuable opportunity for healthcare professionals to recognize oncology nurses and advanced practitioners through the nomination and voting process, encouraging them to reflect on the dedication, resilience, and strength of their colleagues throughout the award cycle.
