CandidateCheck and Texas Prosperity Project Raising the Bar Together in Texas
AUSTIN, Nov. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CandidateCheck and the Texas Prosperity Project (Texas P2) have joined forces to enhance the level of due diligence on political candidates for the 2012 primary elections. Texas P2 Members, and all Texans, now have a new tool to get the facts about the men and women on the ballot.
"We are simply in the business of information," says founder David Doud. "Our research is conducted by former FBI agents who know how to interpret the data. We have no bias, and no stake in the outcome."
CandidateCheck enables candidates to tell voters that a non-partisan, third party verified that they are who they say they are. Candidates provide their credentials, including education, employment history, military records and professional certifications. They also complete a criminal- and civil-records check. How the results are made public is up to the candidate.
CandidateCheck also offers its services to organizations that want to ensure the candidate they support has nothing to hide, as well as to candidates looking for research on their opponent.
According to Texas P2's Executive Director, Stephanie Simpson, this is an idea whose time has come. "Texas Prosperity Project is constantly looking to improve the information our members have about candidates and where they stand on the issues. CandidateCheck enhances the platform we have created for Texas' leading businesses and their employees. Particularly with redistricting, there are a lot of candidates in the mix. I encourage all candidates interested in transparency to utilize the tool on our website."
CandidateCheck was founded by David Doud, a former political candidate in Washington State. Doud started CandidateCheck in 2010 when he realized—after the fact—that his political opponents had been hiding embarrassing background information during the campaign and from Washington State voters. That experience convinced him to start CandidateCheck, to increase transparency in politics.
