HONOLULU, March 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- CanPlan, an all in one planner to help patients and caregivers with their daily battle against cancer, is bringing hope in a time of despair, to thousands of victims fighting this deadly disease. Created on the foundations of positive psychology research, CanPlan's methodology focuses on bringing power back to the individual by providing a sense of control through the chaos.
It's a revolutionary take on the traditional planner, and was created to serve a much deeper purpose than to simply provide a space to keep track of the different aspects of cancer. Each section was carefully thought out and functions as a way to lessen the feelings of depression, fight chemobrain, promote better communication to keep the entire health team on the same page, bring clarity to both progress as well as areas of improvement, and empower fighters to be proactive through positive self-reflection. CanPlan is the world's first diary, organizer, roadmap, and therapist all in one.
The idea for CanPlan came after creator, Sharon Kim, was a caregiver for her mom, who lost her battle to cancer in 2014. By combing her degree in Psychology and her experience in Digital Design, she was able to create an effective template that would become a roadmap to recovery for patients worldwide. She launched a Kickstarter project for CanPlan back in 2016, and successfully raised $14,000 to print the first version. Since then, she's obtained distributors for CanPlan in both the UK and Canada, and has a collection of testimonies praising the benefits of CanPlan.
She's currently running another Kickstarter campaign for version 3 of CanPlan (http://kck.st/2EJpfny), which will now be a binder so that patients can customize the planner to fit their individual journey by being able to add, remove, and relocate pages. She hopes to reach her stretch goal of $25,000 so that she can print CanPlan in bigger bulks, and eventually extend the benefits of CanPlan beyond the war grounds of cancer by releasing extension packs tailored towards different types of physical and mental illnesses, ranging from heart disease to depression. Her vision is to teach people that they CanPlan to bring out their inner hero in order to defeat any type of Goliath.
As CanPlan's founder, Sharon Kim, explains, "CanPlan was my way of giving other fighters a chance to have a different end to their story. It was birthed from a place of needing a tool to track and monitor my mom's illness, and ended up becoming a catalyst for healing. My hope is that people use the planner with intention so that they're able to reap all the benefits of preparation, positivity, and proactivity, and can then share the wisdom they've gained so that we're able to collaboratively come up with an effective cancer plan of attack."
