Cape Coral Woman Crowned Ms. Woman Florida
Represents state in July at national pageant
CAPE CORAL, Fla., May 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Megan Washington of Cape Coral was crowned April 30th at the Flagler Auditorium in Palm Coast as the new Ms. Woman Florida United States. This was Washington's third time vying for the crown as she represented Southwest Florida. "I really wanted this because I knew it would help me make a greater difference and when you really want something you don't give up on it," Washington explains.
The 2017 national pageant is being held in Orlando and Washington will proudly represent her home state of Florida. The top contestants from across the country will be competing for the Ms. Woman United States crown and spend a week between rehearsals and the actual preliminary and stage competitions this July.
Washington holds a master's degree from the University of Florida and specializes in social media and digital marketing. In 2015, Washington established Queen Bee Social where she consults with individuals and businesses to develop specialized digital marketing plans for their audience and needs. In addition, Washington also works for a local non-profit organization that has a strong tradition in the Southwest Florida community.
During her reign, Washington hopes to focus on promoting health and wellness, especially Go Red For Women. "When I was 21, I was diagnosed with a very rare heart arrhythmia which I needed surgery to correct. It was the scariest time in my life because you have one heart so it is so important that it functions correctly. I do not want anyone else to go through what I did in hearing the news that there's something wrong with their heart."
The new Ms. Woman Florida United States looks forward to her year of service and invites organizations to contact her so she can assist them and make appearances for their cause.
