CAPE PAC Launches GOTV Mobile App to Assist Conservative Voters
New Smartphone App Directs Voters to Nearest Polling Locations
WASHINGTON, Nov. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Amid lingering concerns of lower voter turnout after Hurricane Sandy, particularly in the Northeastern part of the United States, the Coalition of Americans for Political Equality Political Action Committee (CAPE PAC) announced the release of a new get-out-the-vote (GOTV) mobile app which directs American voters to their nearest polling location.
Voters can download the app by visiting capepac.org via their mobile or smart phone device, where they will automatically be redirected to the CAPE PAC GOTV Mobile app. Once a visitor has entered their address, the app will look up the nearest polling location and provide directions via Google Maps.
"Our simple goal is to use our technology to get-out-the-vote for Governor Romney and his outstanding running mate, Congressman Ryan, and the Republicans we support. We've received thousands of pledges from our 'StopMrObama' campaign and we'll be reaching out to these voters to remind them to get out and keep their promise," said Jeff Loyd, CAPE PAC chairman. Loyd added that "we want to know that come November 7th, we did everything within our power to retire Obama/Biden"
The GOTV Mobile app was constructed by integrating with the Google civic information, API. The app allows developers to build applications that display civic information, including polling places, early vote locations, candidate data, and election official information to users.
The GOTV Mobile page can also be accessed with a standard web browser by visiting www.capepac.org/polling-place-locator/. CAPE PAC will also implement the GOTV polling locator on the home page of all candidate support sites starting Monday, November 5, 2012.
Said Loyd, "In this election, social media and mobile technology will play a huge factor, which is why we developed our mobile app. It is easy to use and gives voters instant access to find where they need to go from the palm of their hand."
Additionally, CAPE PAC will be pushing the GOTV mobile app via social media channels and via email to those who signed the pledge to vote against Obama via their www.StopMrObama.com campaign.
"Our country is at a critical tipping point, and so CAPE PAC is doing all it can to get people to the polls and vote for Romney. This is our chance to turn this country around and put it back on a track to success," said Mark Pfeifle, CAPE PAC spokesman.
Pfeifle noted that poll numbers are neck-and-neck in key battle states. According to Rasmussen Reports, in the 11 swing states, Romney has 50% of the vote to Obama's 46%. Nationally, Romney has 49% of support from voters over President Obama's 47%.
For their StopMrObama.com campaign, CAPE PAC also launched a website, StopMrObama.com. The homepage calls on voters to pledge to reject Obama's re-election. The new site also has a content-rich section called "Reasons to Pledge Your Vote" that includes 30 articles specific to Obama's policy and leadership failures. CAPE PAC has been promoting the hashtag #StopMrObama.
CAPE PAC has also been pushing the hashtag #RomneyRyan2012 on Twitter, as well as spreading the news through other online social channels, such as Facebook, Google+, and an online search campaign to put the facts first.
