Capital Management Group CEO Shawn Baldwin provides thought leadership at Inside Market Data conference on opportunities, risks in emerging and frontier markets
CHICAGO, Sept. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Shawn Baldwin, Chairman and CEO of Capital Management Group, joined policy, trading and technology professionals Tuesday at the Inside Market Data conference for a provocative look at the impact of regulations, reforms, information and relationships on investment opportunities and outcomes in emerging and frontier markets.
On the panel, "The World is Your Oyster: Chicago Firms Broaden Their Net," Baldwin and other opinion leaders talked about finding opportunities and mitigating risks using advanced market data sources. The panelists also provided insights on a concept that's quite new to the industry: Cooperation.
"Capitalizing on market changes has always been viewed with a competitive lens, but that's changing. One example that cooperation is trending upward is the BRIC fund," said Baldwin, referring to the $100 billion fund that leaders of four emerging markets – Brazil, Russia, India and China – recently pledged to create as a fallback in times of crisis. "The research tools are simply better. They cannot eliminate risks altogether but they can shed light on those once-gray areas. The odds are not only better but the money grows faster, encouraging new investment."
Baldwin was joined by John McPartland, Senior Policy Advisor, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; Christopher Hehmeyer, Chief Executive Officer, HTG Capital Partners; and moderator Manisha Kimmel, Executive Director, Financial Information Forum.
In its fifth year, Inside Market Data, held at the Mid-America Club, is a unique conference that offers market data and trading technology executives an opportunity to network and learn trends from leading industry executives.
