BOSTON, Sept. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Carbonite, Inc. (NASDAQ: CARB), a leading provider of online backup solutions for consumers and small and medium sized businesses, announced today that its vice president and general counsel, Danielle Sheer, has been selected as one of this year's honorees for the prestigious "40 Under 40" awarded by the Boston Business Journal. Each year, the BBJ recognizes 40 of Boston's most influential business leaders under the age of 40 who have established themselves as leaders to be watched in their fields; 2012 is the 15th year of the program.
Sheer founded and developed Carbonite's legal and privacy compliance department in 2009, and manages Carbonite's worldwide legal, compliance and corporate governance affairs. Under Sheer's leadership, Carbonite completed its initial public offering, opened its first foreign office in Beijing, China, and also secured its first patent for the technology behind Carbonite's green dots, which helps Carbonite users easily identify which files and folders Carbonite is backing up, as well as the status of their backups.
"Danielle is talented, hardworking and incredibly dedicated," said David Friend, Carbonite's chairman and CEO. "She is an indispensable advisor to so many people and we are very proud of her being recognized on Boston Business Journal's 40 Under 40 list."
Sheer is a member of The Boston Club and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts. She was recently honored as an "Up and Comer" by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and the Massachusetts Bar Association. Prior to Carbonite, Sheer was an associate in the Manhattan law firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts from George Washington University.
The Boston Business Journal's "40 Under 40" winners will be honored at a reception held at the State Room in Boston on Thursday, October 4, 2012. For more information, visit: http://www.bizjournals.com/boston/event/63571.
