Carol Todd Joins The Social Network Association™ Advisory Board
LAS VEGAS, June 28, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Social Network Association, the world's first association for social networks and their members, welcomes Carol Todd, Founder of The Amanda Todd Legacy, to its Advisory Board. In her new role, Ms. Todd will help shape the strategic vision of The Social Network Association in developing best practices for social networks to provide service, safety, and sustainability to members around the world.
"Working with Carol and The Amanda Todd Legacy is a natural fit for The Social Network Association," explains Jim Nico, CEO of The Social Network Association. "Carol's mission to raise awareness of and decrease instances of cyber bullying, particularly those that lead to suicide like that of her daughter, aligns perfectly with The Social Network Association mission. Her insights and passion will be valuable assets as The Social Network Association grows, and the Association is already analyzing meaningful ways that we can support The Amanda Todd Legacy."
The Social Network Association website launched this month and includes membership opportunities and a comprehensive cyber bullying resource guide that is available for free download. The Association is currently accepting memberships from individuals, organizations, and social networks. Welcoming Carol Todd as the first member of the Advisory Board culminates the full-scale Association launch.
"The Social Network Association is a much needed organization and service that will help to lend a voice towards making social media a safer and more usable tool and resource for all to use," says Carol Todd. "Technology and social media were never developed or intended to evoke apprehensions in users. They were intended as ways to communicate information in a positive manner. However, the pendulum has somewhat shifted and has caused distress and fears in some of its users. It is fear of the unknown. It is fear of the anonymous user who hides behind the screen to convey hateful messages. I'm very happy to join The Social Network Association Advisory Board and am confident that the Association will be successful in its mission to gather more leadership and become the international voice to ensure safety in social media networkers."
Ms. Todd will appear as a guest on The Social Network Show® in July on The Social Network Station®. For show details, visit The Social Network Station website at http://thesocialnetworkstation.com.
