Carrie Cope Appointed to Board of Editors of Appleman's Insurance Law Publication
CHICAGO, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Carrie E. Cope, shareholder and head of the Insurance Regulatory practice at Schuyler, Roche & Crisham, P.C., is the newest appointee to the Board of Editors of the highly regarded Appleman's Insurance Law publication. The appointment follows numerous published articles and chapters by Ms. Cope on D&O liability and other areas of regulatory and insurance law, as well as a recent blog on the impact on insurance of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act ("Financial Reform Act").
"I'm excited and honored to join the Board of Editors at Appleman's," said Cope. "My dual role as regulatory and claims counsel provides me with a unique perspective that I hope will enable me to assist the Board in identifying, understanding and analyzing trends and pivotal events that impact the insurance industry."
Cope's blog on the new Financial Reform Act – "Building Bridges or a Bridge to Nowhere?: The Impact of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act on Insurance" http://www.lexisnexis.com/COMMUNITY/INSURANCELAW/blogs/insurancelawblog/archive/2010/08/17/building-bridges-or-a-bridge-to-nowhere-the-impact-of-the-dodd-frank-wall-street-reform-and-consumer-protection-act-on-insurance.aspx raises questions about the Act's establishment of a Federal Insurance Office within the Department of Treasury and the potential impact of said office on a) the needs of an increasingly global marketplace, b) the often disparate regulatory needs and wishes of state and federal governments, and c) the future efficacy of the insurance industry as a whole.
Most notable among Cope's many published works, in addition to her pivotal commentary on the New York D&O Duty to Defend issue, are her Regulation of Policy Forms in the New Appleman on Insurance Law (LexisNexis 2009) and a book she co-authored in 2008, entitled Directors' and Officers' Liability: Exposures, Risk Management and Insurance Coverage. Published by National Underwriter, the book focuses on the D&O needs of public, private and not-for-profit corporations, the nature of the exposure, common D&O claims, risk management and insurance coverage.
