Caskers Features Celebrated Spirits from the 2015 Whisky Bible
NEW YORK, Nov. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- This morning, Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 was named the World Whisky of the Year by The Whisky Bible. The spirit is not distributed in the US, but those keen to try something in the Yamazaki family or a past Whisky of the Year winner can do so at Caskers, the original online curated whisky shop. The site proudly offers Yamazaki 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky and Ardbeg Uigeadail Single Malt Scotch Whisky, a past Whisky of the Year winner. Both spirits are easily purchased online and delivered across the country.
"We look forward to The Whisky Bible each year as it is a celebration of the best spirits available right now," says Steven Abt. "With Caskers, it is our goal to serve as an online gateway for these hard-to-find spirits, and feature the real standouts for people to access from all across the US."
Yamazaki 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is unique in that it is aged in three different types of casks: American ex-bourbon casks, Spanish sherry casks and Japanese white oak casks, giving it a complex and rich taste of dried stone fruits, toffee, buttered toast and pepper.
A previous World Whisky of the Year, Ardbeg Uigeadail Single Malt Scotch Whisky has a higher than average proof, at 108.4, lending to its more robust and complex flavor. Matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, Uigeadail has an initially sweet flavor profile with touches of cherry, dark chocolate and caramelized oranges with subtle undertones of peat, honey and tobacco.
