It all began in the Summer of 2010 when Christina Daves, founder of CastMedic Designs, broke her foot and was placed in a walking medical boot for eight weeks. She scoured the Internet for anything to "dress-up" her boot, but unfortunately, nothing of its kind existed. She also noticed that when celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Halle Berry were recently in boots, they had nothing to help them look stylish. In fact, Halle Berry skipped the 2012 Oscars because she was in a boot.

Seeing a need in the marketplace, the former retail store owner started designing and coming up with products that were both fashionable and fun to use to accessorize the boots. Her feeling was, "with at least 1.5 to 2.5 million walking medical boots prescribed annually, why should that many people have to walk around in a big ugly boot? Why not have some fun?" (Figures based on 2008 Medicare statistics and data complied from orthopedic surgeons and podiatrists.)
