CCAA Announces Photography Center of Cape Cod; Launches PhotoWalks & PhotoTours
BARNSTABLE, Mass., April 5, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Cape Cod Art Association (CCAA) has introduced the Photography Center of Cape Cod, a new venture offering a comprehensive program of classes, workshops, competitions, exhibits and other activities for photographers. In addition, through the Photography Center, CCAA is starting PhotoTours and Hyannis PhotoWalks, two seasonal programs for tourists and photographers to explore Cape Cod while learning photography.
With classes and workshops for beginners, experienced enthusiasts and professionals, the Photography Center's programs cover a broad range of programs from fine art, nature and landscape photography to portraiture, lighting, Photoshop, Lightroom and much more. The Center will also sponsor a summer photography camp for kids.
Starting this May, the Center will launch Hyannis PhotoWalks. Led by experienced photographer guides, the PhotoWalks will start on Main Street in downtown Hyannis and meander through the village and parks down to Hyannis Harbor, a working harbor filled with fishing boats, ferries, pleasure boat and other craft. The guides will offer tips on taking better pictures while arranging photo ops at scenic locations, historic sites and other points of interest.
Also new this season are the Center's PhotoTours, mini-workshops for photographers to discover new locales, new skills and "see" Cape Cod in new ways. Experienced photography teachers will lead each tour. Among the tours planned for this season are Heritage Museum & Gardens; Hidden Harbors; Lighthouses of Cape Cod; Beauty of Barnstable; Special Places Along the Old King's Highway; and the Monomoy Seal & Shorebird Tour.
In addition, the Photography Center is sponsoring its first exhibition this May. Called "Anything Goes", the exhibit is an open juried show and will feature work of national and international photographers. Entries are still being accepted.
For now, the Photography Center will run from CCAA's existing building on Route 6A in Barnstable Village. Plans are underway to find a new space to house the program.
