CCCF's Super-Awesome Colon-O-Tron Raising Awareness of Colorectal Cancer in Rockefeller Plaza
MRY and Dash7 create innovative, educational game up through March 31 for the Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation
NEW YORK, March 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation (CCCF), a New York-based nonprofit dedicated to reducing colorectal cancer incidence and death throughout the United States, is making it easier to talk and learn about colorectal cancer with the Super-Awesome Colon-O-Tron, an interactive, educational game in the Rockefeller Plaza window.
The Colon-O-Tron, which was designed and built by MRY and Dash7, is making colorectal cancer something people will talk about with an eye-catching game encouraging people to stay lean, eat clean and get screened. The Super-Awesome Colon-O-Tron will be in the 15-foot window at 10 Rockefeller Plaza through March 31.
"Many people are uncomfortable talking about colorectal cancer, so they don't know their risk factors or realize how preventable and treatable the disease is. We're thrilled that MRY and Dash7 are partnering with us to help everyone who passes through Rockefeller Plaza become better educated about this disease during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month," said Catherine Montaldo, CCCF executive director.
The Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation began in 2004 with its signature event, the Colon Cancer Challenge 5k run/walk, and now begins its second decade by reaching out to more people than ever through the window and two Challenges in 2014.
MRY, the agency that designed the Colon-O-Tron, got involved after one of its employees, Briel Zagarow, an account executive, was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2011 at the age of 26. Her involvement with the Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation spurred the agency's commitment to fighting colorectal cancer.
"Supporting colorectal cancer awareness is more than just a philanthropic endeavor here at MRY. It's personal," said Matt Britton, MRY founder and CEO. "Partnering with the CCCF on this initiative provided us with a unique opportunity to reach more people and to encourage those people to have a conversation about a disease that is difficult to discuss."
CCCF, MRY and Dash7 revealed the Super-Awesome Colon-O-Tron to the public in Rockefeller Plaza on Saturday, March 1. All interested participants are invited to interact with the game through March 31.
