WASHINGTON, Feb. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Tuesday, March 1, the Council for European Investment Security will host a policy briefing at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., to explore Poland's economic trajectory and its current foreign direct investment climate.

Much has changed since Poland and other former communist-bloc countries liberalized their economies and began to attract a flood of global investment. A host of developing nations have taken off economically, giving worldwide investors many choices about where to place their operations based on the right combination of returns and security from a stable regime committed to the rule of law.

Today, countries from Poland and Hungary to Spain and Ireland compete with countries across Asia, Africa and Latin America for the same foreign direct investments. Does Poland still have what it takes to sustain the FDI inflows that have driven modernization there and across much of Eastern Europe over the past 15 years?

Join the Council for European Investment Security (CEIS) at a roundtable with some of today's top economic and policy minds. We will discuss and explore examples of what drives or dampens growth, and debate what the future holds.

WHO:	MODERATOR: Ambassador James K. Glassman, Former Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs. Mr. Glassman, host of PBS series Ideas in Action, is also a financial columnist and author of the new book "Safety Net" (Crown).

	Robert J. Shapiro, Chairman of Sonecon, an economic advisory firm in Washington, D.C., and Chairman of the Council for European Investment Security. Dr. Shapiro served as Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs in the Clinton administration.

	Hilary Kramer, Chief investment officer of A&G Capital Research, having managed more than $5 billion in emerging market private equity investments. Mrs. Kramer is also a markets columnist for Forbes and AOL Finance and a commentator with PBS's Nightly Business Report.

	Nick Schulz, DeWitt Wallace Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. Mr. Schulz is also the editor-in-chief of American.com, AEI's online journal of ideas focusing on business, economics, and public affairs and the co-author of "From Poverty to Prosperity" (Encounter).
