Celebrated Italian Designer Domenico Vacca To Open Complete Luxury Lifestyle Destination In Midtown Manhattan
Building on 55th Street Just Off Fifth Avenue to Include New Flagship Retail Store, Members-Only Club & Rooftop, Cafe, Barber Shop, Beauty Salon, and Luxury Long-Term Stay Residences
NEW YORK, June 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Marking the first time that a fashion icon has expanded his portfolio into a comprehensive branded luxury lifestyle destination, designer Domenico Vacca has announced the $20m renovation of The Domenico Vacca opening September 2015. The impressive 12-story luxury space, located on 55th Street just off Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, will be home to the designer's new 8,000-sq. ft. flagship retail store as well as a café, barber shop, beauty salon, members-only club, and luxury long-term stay residences.
Known for exceptional luxury and quality, Domenico Vacca opened his first retail boutique on Fifth Avenue in 2002. The new property represents the evolution of the brand, embodied in an entire building whose façade will be instantly recognizable in a lower stratum of light Italian marble topped by rose-hued stories with brown awnings. The new flagship and greater lifestyle space is surrounded by Fifth Avenue's best-known shopping spots and most prestigious hotels, including the Peninsula and St. Regis, and is within easy walking distance of Central Park, the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center and the Broadway Theatre District.
"I have always wanted to express my creativity and sense of style in other lifestyle concepts," says Domenico Vacca. "This building is a mecca of extravagance and comfort, each aspect and detail a labor of love. For the new retail space, I wanted to create a place that is not just a storefront, but a destination that draws people in to connect, shop, and relax, reviving the in-store shopping experience."
The Domenico Vacca will feature a two-story flagship retail store with men's and women's ready-to-wear, accessories, handbags, watches, fragrances, eyewear, shoes and tableware as well as a private bespoke VIP area offering custom made and special order collections. The interior will be visually distinguished by a modern fireplace, Carrera marble, leather and alligator details throughout. Vacca designed and imported custom Italian furniture that not only represents his heritage, but offers a genuinely comfortable opportunity for customers to relax.
The ground level will also feature the DV Café, a replica of a typical Italian café/bar that will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. where patrons can enjoy the best espresso and cappuccino outside Italy and other beverages, along with pastries, sandwiches, salads, desserts and an aperitivo from 5 p.m. daily. With a seating area for 25 people, the DV Café will be a meeting point for shoppers, socialistas and foodies alike.
On the second floor, the DV Barber Shop will offer an intimate Italian-style grooming concept providing exceptional service for sophisticated men. With four chairs, services will include haircuts, wet shavings and facial massages in a comfortable and elegant space. The adjacent, 700-sq. ft. DV Hair Salon will provide women's cuts, color and blowouts by some of New York's most talented stylists.
Also on the second floor of The Domenico Vacca will be the DV Club, an exclusive private club where members pay an annual fee and are encouraged to leave their wallets at home as they enjoy a complimentary top-shelf open bar and light food. The club includes lounge areas, bar, live musical entertainment and DJs performing on a regular basis. In addition to a private entrance, 2,500 square feet indoors and a 1,500 sq. ft. terrace, the club is connected by private elevator to a 4,000-sq. ft. rooftop with custom-designed furniture, fire pit and expansive city views, available for club members and private events.
"I am a member of several clubs around the world and have been in many where I was unhappy with the lack of customer service and the overselling of tables," says Vacca. "I wanted a social club where the staff knows not only every member by name, but their choices in drinks, food and their social habits so they can anticipate their every need. I want the DV Club to be a place where members feel as if they are in my home, where my clients and friends can relax, network and meet other members and their guests."
The upper floors of The Domenico Vacca are dedicated to long-term stay residences personally decorated by Domenico Vacca, marking another first for the designer. Residents of the 30 fully furnished luxury residences, available in studio to three-bedroom options, will have access to the DV Club, the rooftop, a private gym and chauffeured limousine service.
The Domenico Vacca is located at 15 West 55th Street, New York, NY. Domenico Vacca presently has boutiques in New York, Beverly Hills, Miami, Mayakoba in Mexico, Doha, and Milan.
