Celebrities Support YouthBuild Charter School of California's Student Hunger Relief Golf Tournament
Celebrities Dorian Missick and Kiki Shepard committed to participate
LOS ANGELES, May 23, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Food, celebrities, and fun, words we all love to hear, is what YouthBuild Charter School of California is promising at their 4th Annual Student Hunger Relief Golf Tournament. Their remarkable efforts have garnered support from celebrities Kiki Shepard of " It's Showtime at the Apollo" and Dorian Missick of TNT's "Southland". The two are scheduled to play in the tournament to support YouthBuild Charter's cause.
"I'm honored to be a part of a solution to an often neglected problem," Missick advocates. He further jokes, "Hopefully my lack of golf abilities won't negatively reflect on my commitment to the cause." Funds raised through this event go directly to their Student Hunger Relief Fund, which provides meals for students. Over 30% of their students reported in a survey that they attend school hungry. Last year they raised $10,000; hopefully $30,000 this year.
"In just four years, this humble fundraiser has sponsors like US Bank, Wendy's and even participation from Hollywood celebrities. We're so honored," glowed the School's Principal. "I am honored to be a part of the village that YouthBuild serves. My mother always said 'with education, everything is possible'. That's what this organization strives to give each child. Whatever there is to be done, count me in," says Shepard.
