NEW YORK, April 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mohan's Custom Tailors, a premier custom tailor who counts celebrities, sports stars and New York's political elite among its clients, has continued its tradition of giving back to the community by donating clothing to Staten Island men displaced by Superstorm Sandy. Having previously fit the men earlier this year, Mohan's founder, Mohan Ramchandani, hand delivered the finished suits, valued up to $1500 per suit, to the men at the Port Richmond Salvation Army office.
Ramchandani, who came to the United States in 1972 from India with nothing more than a dream to succeed, understands how difficult it is to start over with nothing to one's name.
"We feel fortunate to be able to donate to people who have suffered so much. A new suit is the first step to rebuilding normalcy for so many victims," said Mohan.
Many of the men are still currently displaced, stripped of personal belongings and a permanent place to call home.
"Mohan has given these men more than just a suit. He's given them something to call their own again," said Port Richmond Salvation Army's Community Service Director Madeline Morales. "Words cannot express how appreciative we are of the overwhelming generosity that Mohan's has shown."
This is the first time that Mohan's and The Salvation Army have joined forces and is just one of Mohan's Custom Tailors' many charitable initiatives. Recently, they re-teamed with The HOPE Program in Brooklyn to outfit men graduated from the program created to remove men from poverty by helping them find, keep and grow careers. Mohan's plans to continue partnering with The Salvation Army for future events and is always thrilled to give back to the community.
