Celia Clancy Appointed New CEO Of Joyce Leslie, Inc.

MOONACHIE, N.J., Oct. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Joyce Leslie, Inc. has announced the appointment of Celia Clancy as their new CEO. She has assumed responsibilities on October 6^th, 2015 and will succeed Co-Presidents Nancy Shapiro & Joyce Segal, who have decided to act as consultants to the Company and will remain on the Board of Directors.

Ms. Shapiro and Ms. Segal have been involved in the family business for over 40 years.  "It is time for Nancy and I to retire and turn our family's legacy over to Celia and the management team," said Ms. Segal. Ms. Clancy is a seasoned senior executive with leadership experience in fashion retail, merchant management, and e-commerce. Ms. Clancy has more than 30 years of experience in retail and women's apparel. She served as President at AJWright, a division of The TJX Companies, Inc. from 2007 to 2011. She served as Chief Executive officer and President at Ashley Stewart, Inc. from 2011 to 2013. Prior to AJWright, Ms. Clancy served as a Senior Operations Consultant at Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. from 2005 to 2006. She served as Vice President Brand Strategy at Wal-Mart Stores Inc. from 2004 to 2005. She joined Wal-Mart in 1997 as Vice President and Divisional Merchandise Manager in ladies wear and then rose to Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager from 2001 to 2004. Before coming to Wal-Mart, Ms. Clancy served 15 years with Bradlees, Inc. where she held positions in fashion merchandise from 1982 to 1997. She started her retail career at Filene's holding positions from Assist. Buyer through Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager. Ms. Clancy earned her B.A. from Wellesley College.

Joyce Leslie was founded in 1945 by Julius H. Gewirtz.  Mr. Gewirtz opened his first specialty retail store in Brooklyn, NY selling hosiery and undergarments. In the early 1970s he changed his retail concept to promote fashion forward women's apparel. The Company, which currently operates 47 retail stores in the greater New York area, has been owned and operated by the Gewirtz family since inception. The stores offer a wide array of women's apparel and accessories including, but not limited to, dresses, sweaters, tops, bottoms, coats, shoes, lingerie, swimsuits and accessories.
