Cellular Research, Inc. to Introduce the Pixel System at the annual AGBT Conference at Marco Island, FL

PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cellular Research, Inc., announced today that it will unveil the details of its new Pixel^TM System to attendees at the Advances in Genome Biology and Technology (AGBT) meeting in Marco Island, FL during a presentation by Steve Fodor, Cellular Research's CEO.  The Pixel System is based on Cellular Research's innovative Molecular Indexing^TM technology, which enables researchers to examine absolute levels of gene expression in individual cells with unprecedented sensitivity and accuracy. For the first time, researchers will be able to examine the gene expression of an entire single cell in a non-destructive assay without PCR bias and with single molecule precision.

Cellular Research is a new biotechnology research and development company, started by innovators from Silicon Valley and Stanford University, whose mission is to deliver new high-precision tools for life science research. The Pixel System is Cellular Research's first product, and the company plans to follow it with additional sequencing specific products in the second half of 2014.

Glenn Fu, co-founder of Cellular Research, will also present a poster at AGBT on the use of Molecular Indexing for the determination of library preparation efficiency.  Additionally, the Cancer Genomics Research Laboratory (CGR) at the Frederick National Cancer Research Laboratory (FNLCR) in Gaithersburg, Maryland will be presenting results from the Cellular Research Single Cell Sequencing Kits as part of a larger project on cross-platform validation.

Pixel is a standalone detection platform for direct and absolute mRNA quantitation from single cells and small samples. The system utilizes Molecular Indexing in a simple, single tube format and at a price point available to all researchers.  Although gene expression is the first application area, ultimately Pixel will enable researchers to measure efficiencies of their sequencing results and quantify and validate previously undetectable variations in gene and transcript levels.
