Centec Networks Extends TransWarp(TM) Family of Ethernet Switching Chipsets with Two New Products
SUZHOU, China, April 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Centec Networks, a leading innovator of carrier-grade IP/Ethernet switching silicon and advanced ODM/OEM system solutions, today announced it is ready to extend its TransWarpTM family of advanced packet-processing chipsets to include two new switching processors, ManhattanTM (CTC6028) and BrooklynTM (CTC5048). The updated product family enables OEMs to build high performance, feature rich, power efficient, and cost effective Ethernet/IP/MPLS solution to address the flexibility, extensibility and scalability challenges.
Currently, Centec's TransWarp family includes two products: HumberTM (CTC6048) and RichmondTM (CTC8032). Humber is a 100Gbps Multilayer Ethernet Switch and Richmond is a cell based scalable Switching Fabric. Manhattan and Brooklyn are two new Multiplayer Ethernet Switches added to the family. Centec's TransWarp family enables industry leading features and performance for fixed and modular systems. Target applications include access, and aggregation IP/Ethernet routing switches, Packet Transport Network (PTN) platforms, Optical Line Termination (OLT) systems and Wireless Backhaul Gateways.
Manhattan is a 68Gbps Multilayer Ethernet Switch with optional external table size expansion, targeting specific port configuration. Brooklyn is a standalone 100Gbps Multilayer Ethernet Switch targeting high performance, cost-effective access and aggregation application. Manhattan and Brooklyn inherit the same flexible service oriented architecture of Humber. They incorporate a variety of advanced L2/L3/MPLS features to meet today and tomorrow's requirements in Carrier Ethernet, Packet Transport and Enterprise Markets:
- Industry first Flexible Table Management (FTMTM) technology to support various profiles of MAC/IP/MPLS/ACL/Multicast under same hardware platform;
- Flexible port configuration, supporting 1G, 2.5G and 10G interfaces, to meet different application environment;
- IPv4/IPv6 routing capability with various IPv4/IPv6 tunneling and transition features;
- Hierarchy Quality of Service (H-QoS) capability with integrated TM, supporting 2K queues and queue/group level shaping;
- Multiprotocol Label Switching(MPLS) and Transport Profile(MPLS-TP);
- On-chip Ethernet Operation, OAM based on IEEE802.1ag and ITU-T Y.1731;
- Protocol independent Automatic Protection Switching (APS) ;
- Synchronous Ethernet and Packet Timing Protocols such as IEEE1588v2.
"Ethernet is becoming the underlying technology for future 3G/4G mobile communication, Data/Voice/Video Convergence, and Data Center/Cloud Computing application," said Jag Bolaria, Senior Analyst with the Linley Group. "Centec's TransWarp family is a competitive switch family for Carrier Ethernet and Data Center applications. These chipsets enable OEMs to build differentiated platforms for the network edge to the core on a consistent architecture that allows software reuse across the platforms.
"We are encouraged by the overwhelming customer feedbacks since the release of our last carrier grade switching silicon (Humber)," said Tao Gu, Chief Technology Officer of Centec Networks, "the addition of Manhattan (CTC6028) and Brooklyn (CTC5048) completes the TransWarp product family to address the whole network edge to the core market segments with various cost and performance requirement. Centec is committed to continue to expand its TransWarp family to meet the complex requirements of tomorrow's network while reducing total cost of ownership for OEMs and Service Providers."
Availability and Samples
Samples of Manhattan (CTC6028) and Brooklyn (CTC5048) are scheduled to be available for the third quarter of calendar 2011. Pricing is available upon request.
Both Manhattan and Brooklyn shared the same software application programming interfaces (API) as Humber. A complete reference design of Humber with L2/L3/MPLS capability is available and already started to be evaluated by customers. It includes software suit, schematics, layout files and related documentation. Manhattan and Brooklyn based system design can use this reference design board as well.
