Center for Excellence in Higher Education Launches New Scholarship Program

SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Center for Excellence in Higher Education (CEHE), a regional leader in career-focused college education, today announced the launch of a new scholarship program, "2014 Your Future Scholarships." The program is available to individuals starting school between July 1 and November 30, 2014.

Scholarships are available through CEHE's network of on-campus and online colleges, including Stevens-Henager College, CollegeAmerica, California College San Diego and Independence University. The program will award 10 full-tuition scholarships, 20 half-tuition scholarships, 30 bachelor's degree scholarships worth $5,000 each and 30 associate degree scholarships worth $3,000 each. Scholarships will be awarded by term and over the course of the students' programs and are designed to financially help new students earn their career-focused degree.

"We recognize earning a college degree can be difficult, especially when students are balancing family and work responsibilities. Our hope through our scholarship program is to provide opportunities to individuals committed to improving their personal and professional circumstances through higher education," said Eric Juhlin, chief executive officer of CEHE. "Because of this program and the flexibility it offers, more students will be able to jump start their careers and increase stability for themselves and their families."

Scholarship applications are available to prospective students of any one of CEHE's colleges, including the online education institution, Independence University. Scholarships are intended for new students looking to earn a degree for better career opportunities and are designed to assist those individuals balancing education with other responsibilities.

To qualify, applicants must be a new student to the CEHE network of colleges and scheduled to start school between July and the end of November. Candidates must fill out an application in person at any one of the schools' campuses, submit one to two letters of recommendation from nonfamily members, complete a 500- to 700-word essay on how education at a CEHE school will change the applicant's life and take the Wonderlic SLE-Q test, an exam used to evaluate critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

In addition to the 2014 Your Future Scholarships, CEHE also offers a variety of different adult student scholarships, high school student scholarships and scholarships for GED recipients, among others.
