ChamberChoice Chamber Members Projected to Save Up to $20 Million in 2010
PITTSBURGH, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- With the expiration of electricity rate caps in the PPL electric distribution territory in Pennsylvania on January 1, 2010, many businesses have experienced over a 30 percent rate increase in rates in the new year. However, organizations that have selected electricity supply options offered through Chamber of Commerce Service Corporation's (CCSC) ChamberChoice Energy Program have been able to minimize these cost increases, and in some cases businesses in the program have even experienced a decrease over capped 2009 default rates. Program members will save between $15 and $20 million in 2010 alone.
In 2009, the ChamberChoice Energy Program, managed by OnDemand Energy, has placed over 1,200 business clients with over 1.2 billion annual kilowatt hours of usage into third party electricity supply contracts in Pennsylvania with nine different suppliers comprising over a dozen different product types, by far the largest volume of load placed into contracts by any one consultant.
"We are extremely pleased with the performance of the ChamberChoice Energy Program. Chamber Partners are commended for their leadership roles within the business communities. We feel fortunate to have partnered with OnDemand Energy to bring one of the leading energy program providers in the U.S. to our Chamber Members," said Sam Weber, President of CCSC.
Within the ChamberChoice Energy Program, OnDemand is providing a managed pool option where small to medium sized Chamber members can purchase energy just like large industrial users. The pool is designed to layer in bulk electricity purchases from the wholesale markets over time to avoid the risk of purchasing all your energy at one time. This results in lower and less risky pricing for businesses participating in the pool. This option has proven to be very popular with Chamber members as they attempt to take advantage of newly competitive electricity markets.
"The ChamberChoice energy program is delivering energy savings opportunities to all of their Chamber Member businesses whether small or large, from small retail establishments to very large institutional customers," said John Zbihley, President of OnDemand Energy.
