Champion Celebrates 135 Years in Business
Special Products Division Marks 60th Anniversary with New Hires, Refocus on Government, Military, Aerospace and Power Generation Markets
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio, Nov. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Since 1878, The Champion Company has been designing, manufacturing and servicing ground support equipment as well as creating solutions for customers' toughest engineering problems. Aggressive expansion marks the company's 135 years in business and celebrates 60 years for Champion's Special Products Division.
"You don't get to be a company with a rich, long legacy without being flexible and responsive to the ever-changing marketplace," said vice president and general manager Todd DeVore. "We've built our reputation on our abilities to design equipment to meet any challenge, and now we're growing our staff to increase those capabilities and refocus our efforts on commercial aerospace, military and government, and power generation."
To date, Champion has added a government and military segment executive, a commercial aerospace segment executive, and a spares and refurbishment specialist to its team of professionals.
"We're very excited to add these talented individuals to our team," DeVore said. "They will build on the solid foundation our Special Products Division had when it was first designing hermetically sealed shipping containers for the United States government in World War II."
Hallmarks of Champion's production capabilities include:
- More than 200,000 square feet of production space
- In-house tool department
- Machine shop
- Presses ranging from 50 to 550 tons
- Custom welding fabrication
- Automatic pre-treatment-to-paint systems
"It will be exciting to see what new innovations emerge from this team as we develop products for all our customers in military and government, aerospace and power generation," DeVore said.
