
Changing of the Guard at Societe de Chimie Industrielle
NEW YORK, Jan. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The Societe de Chimie Industrielle is pleased to announce the results of recent elections of new Officers and Board Members, held during the group's annual meeting on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the Yale Club of New York.
The following members were elected as Officers: President: Dwight Glover; VP Administration: James M. Weatherall; VP Finance: Alfred A. Sagarese; VP Membership: Joseph V. Porcelli.
In addition, three current Board Members were re-elected to serve additional three-year terms: Joseph L. Coote, Dwight Glover, and James Harton.
Two new members were also elected to join the Board: James M. Weatherall, and Ray Altenburger. James M. Weatherall is Vice President for Global Business Development and Innovation Support at SpecialChem S.A. Jim is also a Board Member and Program Chair of the Chemical Marketing and Economics Group (CM&E) of the American Chemical Society – New York Section. Raymond Altenburger is Principal at Altenburger Consulting LLC, specializing in assisting Bio Materials. Ray is a long-standing member of the Racemics group, where he serves as Chair of the Scholarship committee.
Continuing Board members are Madeleine Jacobs, Joseph V. Porcelli, Alfred A. Sagarese, Joseph A. Sipia, Janice Teal, William N. Avrin, Marc S. Reisch, John E. Roberts, Paul Schuler, Peter Young.
At the Annual Meeting, retiring president John E. Roberts, Senior Vice President, The Buckingham Research Group , presented to the group on the topic of "Update on Chemical Stocks," followed by a special guest speaker, Brigitte Van Tiggelen, Societe/Chemical Heritage Foundation Fellow, who presented a summary of her research at CHF, "The Story of Prussian Blue."
Please mark your calendars: On Wednesday, January 18, 2012, the Societe will be pleased to welcome Dr. Thomas Kevin Swift, Chief Economist and Managing Director, American Chemistry Council and Alan Beaulieu, Principal and President, ITR , to present on the topic of "The Economy and the Chemical Industry." The meeting will be held at the Yale Club of New York, and will be co-sponsored with the Chemical Marketing & Economics Group (CM&E) of ACS-NY.
Please mark your calendars: On Wednesday, February 15, 2012 the Societe meeting will be co-hosted with the Racemics organization and will feature Robert Westervelt, Editor-in-Chief of Chemical Week; Joseph Chang, Global Editor, ICIS Chemical Business; and Peter Young, President and Managing Director, Young & Partners. The topic will be "The State of the Chemical Industry: Outlook for 2012 and Beyond." The meeting will also be held at the Yale Club of New York.
