Charitable Organization Revs up to Keep Philanthropy Alive Amid Massive Government Spending Cuts
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Vincent Everett, CEO of Works of Life International Ministries--a non-profit charitable organization in operation for over a decade--is pledging to boost the organization's charitable works and services by tackling head on the issue of impending slashes in government spending. Everett acknowledges that revving up organizational resources amid a grueling recession might seem a bit quixotic to some, but is confident that he and his analysts have interpreted Congressional activity well enough to know that expanding Works of Life actually protects charitable giving in a weak economy.
"Ever Since Obama took office legislation in Washington has definitely appeased the GOP, etching closer to smaller government and less government spending," says Everett. He adds, "The non-profit sector has had plenty of time to anticipate the effects of the recent debt bill that proposes to strike $2.1-2.4 trillion from the federal budget along with raising the national borrowing limit. When funding is slashed from large federally sponsored social welfare programs, people are going to turn to non-government organizations for support."
As the GOP picks its six candidates for a twelve member joint committee entrusted with finding at least $1.5 trillion in deficit reduction over the next ten years, Vincent Everett is beefing up Works of Life's resources to accommodate what he predicts will be a surge in demand for the organization's charitable works and services.
"We [Works of Life] have already been experiencing burgeoning demand for our work ever since gas prices began to compound the effects a decaying housing market," says Everett. He continues, "Charity relies on the generosity of the middle class as much as it does the super rich, so it makes sense to design a program that doesn't cut into the spending power of hard working Americans, especially now that massive spending cuts are about to be implemented."
Works of Life, along with its partner the With Causes Charitable Network, accepts a wide range of property donations to generate charitable income and provide donors with tax deductible receipts.
"When you donate car, donate boat, donate yacht, donate real estate, or even donate aircraft to Works of Life, you improve your economic portfolio by liquidating property you no longer wish to own while providing charitable assistance to a worthy cause of your choice," says Everett.
He continues, "Don't be fooled by terms like 'bipartisanship' and 'compromise' in Washington; Republicans have a clearer claim to victory in the debt ceiling debate. Although the budget committee is half GOP and half Democrats, the task of cutting government funding is strictly a concession to Republicans. Works of Life is not in the business of making value judgements about political parties. But we do owe it to our charitable recipients, many of whom are in desperate need of support, to use common sense in watching the partisan tug of war happening in Washington. The GOP has been winning for a long time, which has huge implications for non-profit organizations, many of which are approaching a sink or swim scenario with the passage of this bill. Works of Life is afloat and ready to take on the challenges of what may prove to be unprecedented changes in the state of social welfare."
