Charity Golf Event to Support Autism Research Collaboration
Fundraiser to Aid Researchers in Sharing Data/Results with NIH Database
POTOMAC, Md., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The 1st Annual FORE Autism Charity Golf Tournament will be held on August 2, 2010, at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farms. Against the backdrop of one of the Washington, D.C.-area's most prestigious golf clubs, the FORE Autism fundraiser will help enable autism researchers worldwide to share their data and results in a collaborative environment.
Hosted by the Autism Science Foundation and sponsored by OMNITEC Solutions, Inc., a multi-disciplined federal integrator, the FORE Autism Charity Golf Tournament will raise funds for grants for autism researchers to participate in the National Database for Autism Research (NDAR). OMNITEC worked with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop the NDAR (http://ndar.nih.gov) portal to enable widespread collaboration among the scientific community through shared autism research data and results, with the goal of accelerating scientific discovery.
The FORE Autism Charity Golf Tournament will be held at TPC Potomac on August 2. The schedule of events include:
10:00 a.m.: Breakfast and Putting Practice
12:00 p.m.: Shot Gun Start* (lunch on cart, beverages along course)
Featured contests: Hole-In-One for a car, Hole-In-One on all Par 3s for prizes, $25,000 Putting Contest and Long Drive Contest
*Tournament Format: Best ball off T ~ Everyone plays own ball after T shot ~ Best score of group
Post 18 Holes: Cocktail Reception
Gala Dinner featuring Dr. Tom Insel, Director of the National Institute of Mental Health
