
Charleston Chamber Endorses Delegate Doug Skaff for State Senate
It's the Latest of Several Endorsements for Skaff
CHARLESTON, W.Va., Oct. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Charleston Regional Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Delegate Doug Skaff in the race for the West Virginia Senate from the 17th District in Kanawha County.
"As a small business person, I understand the issues of business development and have worked to create jobs and cut taxes," Skaff said. "I am honored to receive endorsements from so many organizations, including the chamber."
Other groups that have endorsed Skaff include the West Virginia Bankers Association, the West Virginia Home Builders Association, the West Virginia Realtors Association, the West Virginia Oil Marketers & Grocers Association, and the West Virginia Trucking Association.
In announcing the chamber's endorsements, Chamber Chairman Mike Basile said, "Central to our mission is endorsing candidates who share our vision for economic growth and opportunity for the citizens of the Kanawha Valley and West Virginia."
Through his work as a delegate, Skaff has worked on several economic development issues, including Project Launchpad, which is attempting to attract high-tech firms to the Kanawha Valley, and the initiative to revitalize the former Union Carbide Tech Park.
Chamber President Matt Ballard said, "By endorsing a candidate, the Charleston Chamber believes that he or she will be a strong and effective partner on policies to advance Kanawha County and West Virginia."
