Charm Wins Midea Small Home Appliance Group's Full TV Media Account for 2011

BEIJING, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- Charm Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: CHRM) ("Charm" or the "Company"), a leading advertising agency in China, today announced that its Charm Advertising business unit has won Midea Small Home Appliance Group's full TV media account for 2011. According to CTR, TV on average accounts for over 70% of advertisers' media spending.

With over 150,000 employees and a total sales volume of over RMB 95 billion in 2009, Midea is one of the largest home appliance manufacturers in China, which is also one of China's fastest growing sectors reflecting expanding domestic consumption. Midea Small Home Appliance Group is one of Midea's two major operating divisions and produces 12 main product lines, including microwaves, rice cookers, ovens, water coolers, water heaters, soy milk makers, dish washers, and vacuum cleaners, each of which occupies a leading market position in its category.

Charm Advertising, Charm's advertising agency arm, has been working with Midea Small Home Appliance Group since 2009, serving Midea's Soy Milk Maker product line. In 2009, Charm created an integrated advertising campaign for Midea's Soy Milk Maker, which extended from market research and creative design to media planning and buying and helped to increase its sales many times over. In 2010, in recognition of Charm's service and technical abilities, Midea invited Charm to extend the same services to four of Midea Small Appliance Group's other product lines.

Midea Small Home Appliance Group is integrating its product line media accounts and held a pitch for its 2011 full TV media businesses in September 2010. Midea chose Charm Advertising because of Charm's outstanding track record in the TV market and its ability to deliver full media service capabilities and provide a large customer like Midea with a one-stop-shop solution for all of its TV media needs.
