CHEFS FEED™ Reveals the Nation's Top Dishes According to the Nation's Top Chefs
A new restaurant guide from the mouths of chefs such as Mario Batali, Thomas Keller, Wolfgang Puck, Grant Achatz, Michael Mina and several more proves that chefs can do more than cook good food; they can recommend good food too
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Chefs Feed, the first chef-powered food and restaurant guide, announced its official launch for the iPhone today. Launching first in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, Chefs Feed is the ultimate checklist for foodies looking for a credible list of what to eat, not just where to eat.
Chefs Feed features favorite dishes from the worlds most renowned chefs including San Francisco's Michael Mina (Restaurant Michael Mina), New York's Mario Batali (Babbo, Lupa), Chicago's Grant Achatz (Alinea, Next, Aviary) and Los Angeles's Wolfgang Puck (Spago). The Chefs Feed community also includes Thomas Keller (French Laundry, Per Se) and a growing list of more than one hundred chefs nationwide.
With Chefs Feed users can search through the dish recommendations of each chef, create a personal itinerary to try each dish, rate the dishes they eat, and post their progress to their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Chefs Feed is available free for download via the iTunes store.
To pair with the app, Chefs Feed is launching a series of short documentaries filmed by Chefs Feed Co-Founder Jared Rivera, who traveled the country, interviewed the Chefs Feed Contributing Chefs and tried many of their recommended dishes. These videos will be shown on Virgin America flights, Chefs Feed's official airline launch partner, rolling-out fleetwide starting Saturday, October 1st (on RED™, Virgin America's award-winning in-flight entertainment system). The videos will offer guests onboard Virgin America an in-depth look at the top chefs' recommended restaurants and dishes in Virgin America destinations of Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. In perfect synergy, Virgin America will get their guests to their destination in style; in turn, Chefs Feed will educate them on where to go for the best eating while there. The airline's focus on a fresh, diverse range of menu options has helped it capture the "Best Domestic Airline for Food" award in Travel + Leisure 2009 World's Best Awards. Virgin America is also the only airline in the U.S. with a touch-screen seatback menu that enables "anytime" ordering during a flight. The airline's new home at San Francisco International Airport's Terminal 2 is also known for its inspired, sustainable food offerings.
Chefs Feed is a San Francisco based company founded by restaurant industry veterans Steve Rivera and Jared Rivera of restaurant consulting firm Rivera Public Relations and well-known food editor and author Sara Deseran. In addition to the growing number of credible chefs participating in Chefs Feed, the company is also adding talent to its executive and investor teams including technology industry veteran, Kevin Freedman (Slide, eBay, PayPal). Leveraging their chef relationships and experience, this team handpicked the top chefs based on their culinary contributions. They pooled together a team of top-notch national food editors in each city to repeat this formula and ultimately assist in creating the Chefs Feed community nationally.
"In today's world of anonymous online food recommendations, the credibility of who's qualified to review food is often called into question," said Chefs Feed Co-Founder, Steve Rivera. "If you want a good recommendation for where to eat, you should ask a local. But, if you want a GREAT recommendation, you should ask a local chef. So that's what we did."
At launch, Chefs Feed will be available in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, with plans to expand into additional culinary destinations by December, 2011 including Washington D.C., Seattle, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta and New Orleans. This initial iPhone app launch is a prelude to further app updates and additional developments by Credible, Inc., Chefs Feed's parent company, including the availability of Chefs Feed on various smart phone and tablet devices.
