SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Chelsio Communications, Inc., a leading provider of high performance Ethernet adapters for storage networking, virtualized enterprise data centers, cloud service installations, and cluster computing environments, today announced that Chelsio Unified Wire 10/40GbE adapters have achieved OpenPower Ready compliance.  The Chelsio solutions can be utilized in servers and high performance computing clusters as part of an open architecture model featuring technology from members of the OpenPower Foundation.

The OpenPower Ready-compliant Unified Wire adapters are designed for storage, cloud computing, HPC, virtualization and other data center applications in an OpenPower Compute and Storage environment.

• T580-LP-CR – dual-port low-profile 40 Gigabit Ethernet Unified Wire adapter, with PCI Express 3.0 host bus interface
• T580-S0-CR – memory free dual-port 40 Gigabit Ethernet Unified Wire adapter, with PCI Express 3.0 host bus interface

Each adapter is based on the Chelsio T5, which is a highly integrated, hyper-virtualized 10/40GbE controller with full offload support of a complete Unified Wire solution comprising NIC, TOE, iWARP RDMA, iSCSI, Security and Filtering, and Traffic Analytics and Management. T5 provides no-compromise performance with high packet processing capacity, sub-microsecond hardware latency and high bandwidth, limited only by the PCIe Gen3 bus. Furthermore, it scales to true 40 Gigabit line rate operation from a single TCP connection to thousands of connections, and allows simultaneous low latency and high bandwidth operation thanks to multiple physical channels through the ASIC.
