Chicagoland's Ugliest Basement Contest is Underway

CHICAGO, Dec. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- How ugly is your basement? Do you keep the door locked so no one ever sees it? Has it become a catch-all storage unit piled with junk instead of the beautiful living space you've always wanted?  Thanks to a contest sponsored by Matrix Basement Systems, your wish for a spectacular finished basement could soon become a reality!

"With the holidays right around the corner, I wanted to find a way to give back to the community," says Nick Richmond, president and co-founder of Matrix Basement Systems.  "With so many people struggling financially and trying to make ends meet, the timing is right for a contest like this," he adds.  "We hope to help a family truly in need."

The Ugliest Basement Contest runs through December 22, 2011 and is open to anyone living within a 50 mile radius of Chicago. Those interested in entering the contest should submit 3-5 photos of their basement, along with a letter explaining why they should be chosen to win. They should also include the city or town in which they live and the approximate size of their basement.  Videos are welcome, but not required. Submissions should be sent to [email protected].

The winner of the Ugliest Basement Contest will be announced on January 1, 2012. Work will begin on January 15th and completed within 6 weeks. The basement makeover prize package has a retail value of $25,000! 

Everyone who enters the contest will receive a $1000 Matrix Basement Systems gift certificate to be redeemed at any time through 2012. They will also be automatically entered into a raffle drawing for a Samsung 43" Plasma TV.
