Chicago's Hall Prangle and Schoonveld Expands Healthcare Litigation Practice with Addition of Ten New Attorneys
CHICAGO, April 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Hall Prangle and Schoonveld, LLC (HPS), a national litigation defense firm, is pleased to announce the addition of ten new attorneys to its Chicago office, including senior partners Marilee Clausing, Laura Ginett, Amy Kane and Michele Anderson. Joining them are partners Charles Bletsas and Aaron Ryan, and associates Katherine Dzik, Sabina Babel, Sapna Lalmalani, and Molly Pankauskas.
The announcement, effective for all as of April 1, follows the group's departure from Anderson, Rasor and Partners, LLP. The transition will mark a nearly 20% increase in HPS's attorney population, meaning additional experience, bench depth and mentorship in the area of healthcare litigation, one of the firm's core practices.
The group's arrival also marks the launch of the firm's Birth Trauma Defense Team, which will be accessible to the firm's clients on a national scale. The team, composed of attorneys and paralegals, is designed to defend healthcare providers when obstetrical, neonatal, and pediatric complications arise.
"This was a big decision for everyone involved, and it's not one any of us made lightly," HPS's Managing Partner Jennifer Ries-Buntain explained. "There is so much to be gained by welcoming a team of attorneys like this one. The addition of these four senior partners alone brings added talent to our home base in Chicago and to our offices across the country." She adds, "Having worked with them in the past, I know and respect each of these attorneys both as professionals and also as people. I think I speak for my colleagues and our clients when I say both are equally important."
Marilee Clausing's background as an obstetrical nurse has uniquely complimented her 30 years of practice in the area of birth trauma defense and medical malpractice litigation. She is a 2011 recipient of the Jury Verdict Reporter "Trial Lawyer Excellence Award for Career Achievement." She is a widely recognized trial attorney and has tried numerous cases involving catastrophic injury and birth trauma.
Laura J. Ginett concentrates her practice on the defense of hospitals and long term care facilities. She has taken more than twenty-five cases to verdict and is an associate member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Amy Kane focuses her practice on the defense of hospitals and healthcare professionals against claims of medical negligence. Throughout her career she has handled numerous jury trials, many of which involved catastrophic neurologic injury.
Michele C. Anderson has practiced for over 20 years, with significant trial experience defending obstetricians and nurses in birth trauma cases. She has also defended general medical negligence claims against clients such as hospitals, physicians and nurses.
On the transition, Clausing explains, "Good things happen when you are building on a strong foundation of friendship and mutual respect. With that as our starting point, our expectations are high for what we can accomplish together on behalf of our clients, in Chicago and on a national level. As for the future, she notes, "When it comes to our collective clients, there is still so much we want to do. The talent, energy and support at HPS tell me all of that is possible."
