LONDON, Nov. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In June 2016, China's PTFE price turned to fall, showing flatness in both supply and demand. In H1, the production was cut significantly, by over 10% over H1 2015.
In June 2016, Jiangxi Nanyang Polytechnic Institute signed a contract with Midea Refrigeration Equipment about the purchase of 1,000 sets of R290 room air conditioners. This is expected to bring demonstration effect to the market, to further improve consumers' acceptance and recognition and accelerate the marketisation, and to finally follow the government's environmental policies, according to analyst CCM.
In June 2016, Zhejiang Yongtai announced to set up a JV, to develop, produce and sell fluorine-enriched lithium salts. This meant that the company would march into Li-ion battery industry which is now developing rapidly, to expand its downstream market and build new profit growth points.
In June 2016, Jiangsu Xintai announced the acquisition by Tonze for USD409.78 million (RMB2.70 billion). The large capital input will help Jiangsu Xintai accelerate its operation of new LiPF6 project.
In early June 2016, Quzhou Juxin announced the advancement of the HFCs production expansion plan, related project now under EIA. As a key fluorine-enriched refrigerant production base for Zhejiang Juhua, Quzhou Juxin probably has an intention to better satisfy the downstream industries transferring their applications mainly from HCFC-22 to R410a and R404A.
In late May 2016, Quzhou Beidouxing was announced to construct a new LiPF6 project. This is expected to enable its parent company, Quzhou Nangaofeng to be another inorganic fluorochemical enterprise in China to achieve transformation and upgrading and to step into alternative energy business.
In June 2016, China's environmental protection tax law is to be examined. This signals that the domestic pollutant discharge fee system will be replaced. In addition, the tax rate probably will be raised based on economic conditions, which will increase the environmental protection cost for the domestic fluorochemical enterprises.
In June 2016, China's fluorite market continues the upturn. In addition, the full advancement of the resource tax reform recently, which is aimed at combining the resource tax with the market price (a reflection of the supply and demand relation) and establishing the automated tax regulation mechanism, is expected to ease the pressure upon enterprises and further stabilise the market.
In May 2016, China's fluorine-enriched refrigerant market runs well continuously. However, La Nina phenomenon is bringing increasing rainfalls. As the slack season (Q3) comes, it is expected that the demands will decrease, and the prices of fluorine-enriched refrigerants will turn to falls.
In May 2016, China's AlF3 price maintained stability, thanks to the stable rigid demand and the slightly increasing costs. However, CCM expects no price recovery in the short run, due to the overcapacity. In June 2016, China's fluorochemicals prices, especially fluorine-enriched refrigerants', stopped rising and became stable. However, La Nina phenomenon is bringing increasing rainfalls, and the slack season is coming. All this will cause falls in demand and in prices.
Notably, investment into LiPF6 business continued:
Zhejiang Yongtai: to set up a JV, for phased LiPF6 project construction
Jiangsu Xintai: be acquired completely, expected to accelerate its LiPF6 project construction and operation
Quzhou Beidouxing: already submitted EIA report to local environmental protection bureau for its LiPF6 project
By contrast, production of PTFE, ever a key target for investment, was decreased. According to CCM's research, cumulative output in H1 was down by over 10% YoY.
Meanwhile, marketisation of R290 air conditioner is speeding up.
Jiangxi Nanyang Polytechnic Institute purchased 1,000 such air conditioners
Haier had its 53 such air conditioners serve UNDP building
TCL held a ceremony for finishing production of its 1st batch of R290 split type air conditioners
