SHENZHEN, China, Feb. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- China Information Technology, Inc. ("CNIT" or the "Company") (Nasdaq: CNIT), a leading provider of integrated cloud-based solutions in digital education, smart family and business, public information release, and other information technology solutions in China, today announced the Company has founded the CNIT Smart City Research Institute (the "Institute"), and established solid and long-term industry-university relations with several top universities in China including Peking University, Nanjing University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wuhan University.
Dr. GONG Jianya, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, acts as the Dean of the Institute, and Dr. LI Deren, a member of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, holds the post of Chief Scientist of the Institute. The Institute is focused on the research and development of sophisticated technologies and applications in the fields of smart city, internet, cloud computing, big data and internet-of-things, and aims at integrating industry resources and providing the Company with a wide-reaching technological support for its market advancement the smart city and internet service initiatives.
Dr. GONG Jianya is a PhD supervisor of Wuhan University and Director of China's National Laboratory for Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing ("LIESMARS"), a National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars recipient, Changjiang Chair professor of China's Ministry of Education and Chief Scientist of China's National Basic Research Program.
Dr. Li Deren is a scientist in the field of photo-grammetry and remote sensing in China and is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He is also a member of the Euro-Asia International Academy of Science, Professor and PhD supervisor of Wuhan University, Vice-President of the Chinese Society of Geodesy, Photo-grammetry and Cartography. Dr. LI was also the Director of both the Academic Commission of Wuhan University and LIESMARS.
