NEW YORK, June 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In April 2016, Chinese market price of battery cells dropped slightly. In addition, because of weak demand from digital market, slight decline in export, and instable demand from the domestic alternative energy vehicle market, Chinese Li-ion battery producers were not optimistic about the future of the market, and they were mainly focus on sales and may further lower their products prices.
- Cathode materials:
As the tight supply of raw material lithium carbonate alleviates gradually, prices of cathode materials began to become stable. However, the demand for cathode materials from the downstream Li-ion battery industry has decreased slightly, leading to increasing inventory. Therefore, it is likely that the prices of cathode materials will fluctuate in the future.
- Anode materials:
The price of anode materials remained stable. As there has been increasing orders from new customers, the supply in 2016 increased much faster than that in 2015. However, as there was excess supply in the whole industry, the price of mid- and low- end products may go down in the future.
- Separators:
Currently, Chinese separator market develops smoothly, and products are delivered regularly. The operating rate of major producers maintains over 90%. However, as there are many new participants in the industry and the new capacity is mainly for mid- and low- end separator products, excess supply has been aggravated and prices have been dragged down. In the future, high-end wet-process separator will become major profit growth point of the industry. If producers can make a breakthrough in the key technology and realize industrialization, they may gain the initiative of the market.
- Electrolytes:
At present, the domestic electrolyte market runs smoothly. Besides, due to the high prices of raw materials lithium hexafluorophosphate and lithium carbonate, the price of electrolyte is likely to remain high for a long time.
