China Shen Zhou Mining & Resources, Inc. Announces a Proseminar About the New Progress on Exploration of Xingzhen Mining

BEIJING, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- China Shen Zhou Mining & Resources, Inc. (NYSE Amex: SHZ) ("China Shen Zhou", or the "Company"), a leading Company engaged in the exploration, development, mining and processing of fluorite, zinc, lead, copper, and other nonferrous metals in China, today announced a proseminar held for the new progress on exploration of Xingzhen Mining, a subsidiary of the Company.

On January 10, 2010, a geological prospecting proseminar of Keyinbulake Copper-Zinc Mine was held with the attendance of geologists, professors and experts in Urumchi, China.

Based on previous exploration, especially according to the results of the IP sounding work in geological prospecting carried out in 2009, the attendants discussed the mineral formation conditions, analyzed the genesis of ore bodies and concluded that Keyinbulake Copper-Zinc Mine belongs to the submarine volcanogenic sediments.

The analysis on the data of exploration shows that within the mineralized belt the ore bodies continue along with the strike and distribute in parallel and en echelon arrangement. The method of sounding shows that the extendibility of some inclined ore bodies is longer than their strike prolongation.

There are five high-polarization abnormal zones found through IP sounding methods and they coincide in space and positions with the known copper-zinc ore bodies controlled under current underground extraction.

The conclusion of the conference shows that Keyinbulake Copper-Zinc Mine exists with high potential of ore prospecting and the previous work greatly assists the Company to delimit the accurate target area for further exploration. The geologists and experts are quite hopeful to find a medium ore deposit of copper and zinc in this region through further exploration in 2010.

In Xingzhen Mining, the controlled underground ore being extracted has met the requirement of production in the near future. A good result of further exploration together with the current trend of higher price of nonferrous metal will further benefit the Company.
