MARGARET RIVER, Australia, April 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A delegation led by Hao Hongfeng, chairman of China's largest online alcohol retailer Jiuxian.com, paid a visit to Watershed Premium Wines located in the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia in the afternoon of April 11, 2016. Watershed Premium Wines managing director Geoff Barrett presented the letter of authorization to Jiuxian.com.
Mr. Barrett and the vineyard's chief winemakers gave the delegation a warm reception. Mr. Hao gave a brief presentation to the vineyard's managing director on Jiuxian.com's plans for marketing the Australian wines, saying: "Australian wine is very popular among Chinese consumers and the prospects are rosy. I hope the visit will enhance our mutual understanding. We have well-established channels, while you have high-quality wine. Our cooperation will provide first-class wine services to global consumers."
As for the goal of the visit, Mr. Hao explained that consumption of wine by the Chinese public is growing rapidly. According to the latest data, both China's import volume and import value of wine jumped in 2015, serving as a testament to the huge development potential for China's wine market. In addition, wine designed for the average consumer is increasingly popular. Jiuxian.com has enhanced the global scale of its wine operations this year and April has been designated by the retailer as the month for celebrating wine. Jiuxian.com plans to select high-quality yet less expensive wine products for China's domestic wine fans during its visit to Australia.
Watershed Premium Wines, the second largest producer in the Margaret River region, mainly produces red and white wines in three categories: Shades, Senses and Awakening.
Jiuxian.com chose from the Shades, Senses and Farm categories during the visit. As one of the largest producers in the Margaret River wine region, Watershed Premium Wines produces customized, cost-conscious wines with consistent quality. Western Australia is a cold region where the amount of wine that is produced is limited and labor costs are relatively high; as a result, wines are highly customized.
There are two key wine regions in Western Australia: Great Southern and Margaret River. The most well-known is Margaret River, where wines are never mass produced and the boutique wineries are known for their limited production and high quality. Most recently a new trend has emerged among consumers of wine, the Cold Trend, where wines from cold regions are preferred. This is why Mr. Hao and the Jiuxian delegation have chosen wines from the Margaret River region.
Jiuxian.com expects to partner with more than ten five-star wineries during the visit to Western Australia. Jiuxian.com has signed agreements with Watershed Premium Wines, Brygon, Warner Glen, McHenry, Clairault | Streicker Wines and Flametree, all located in the Margaret River wine region.
