ChinaWeek to Host Trade, Culture, Tech and Food Events throughout Los Angeles County this May

LOS ANGELES, April 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Museums, entrepreneurs, chefs, students and government leaders are in preparations for Los Angeles's inaugural ChinaWeek, a series of events held May 7th-14th throughout Los Angeles County dedicated to catalyzing and highlighting Southern California's unique role as the go-to gateway for advancing U.S.-China ties.

ChinaWeek programming will include the California-China Business Summit, the U.S.-China Cleantech Innovation Forum, art exhibitions at The Getty and the USC Pacific Asia Museum, dim sum food tours of the San Gabriel Valley, and "Chinese & Friends Speed Dating" events, to name just a few.

Governor Jerry Brown will deliver the keynote remarks at the California-China Business Summit on May 11th. The summit, a centerpiece of ChinaWeek, is derived from a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between California and China's Ministry of Commerce, which implements the consensus reached between Governor Brown and then-Vice President Xi Jinping to expand trade and investment cooperation.

The MOU links California to some of China's most economically advanced regions and provides a framework to boost economic growth, strengthen communication and enhance trust between China and California. The summit will host a significant Chinese delegation composed of business and government leaders from various Chinese regions, who will both deliberate on immediate business opportunities and create an ongoing platform to carry out the mission of the MOU.

The event will include presentations by the delegations from seven Chinese provinces, as well as representatives from U.S. businesses and industry groups.
