Chinook Book for iPhone® Now Available in Portland, Seattle
More than 500 merchants participate in launch of world's first mobile coupon book
PORTLAND, Ore. and SEATTLE, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Chinook Book – the popular green resource guide and coupon book – now has a high-tech sister: Chinook Book for iPhone, the world's first mobile coupon book. Chinook Book owners can now use their iPhone®, iPod touch® or iPad™ to save thousands of dollars at hundreds of green and local businesses in the Portland and Seattle metro areas.
"This is a game changer for both merchants and consumers," says Nik Blosser, President of Celilo Group Media, publisher of Chinook Book. "The iPhone totally transforms coupon use – you always have your phone with you, it's easy to find participating businesses near you, and you can instantly track your savings. I'm absolutely thrilled that more than 500 merchants representing over 1,000 locations in Portland and Seattle are participating in the launch of Chinook Book for iPhone."
The launch of Chinook Book for iPhone is sponsored by 1THING and Drive Less Save More in Portland and KCTS9 in Seattle.
The first step in using Chinook Book for iPhone is to download the free Chinook Book App from iTunes®. A link to download is available at ChinookBookMobile.com. Second, users must purchase a mobile coupon pack, either for $16 through the App or with the purchase of a $20 print edition of the 2011 Chinook Book. Then, instead of presenting a printed coupon at checkout, the user simply taps the "redeem" button on the coupon preview screen, resulting in a simple animation. The cashier grants the discount, and the coupon is marked as redeemed.
Each city's mobile coupon pack contains more than 250 one-time-use coupons for savings at highly regarded local businesses that support healthy, sustainable living, including restaurants, grocers, entertainment, yoga/fitness and outdoor recreation gear.
Chinook Book for iPhone users in the Portland and the Seattle/Puget Sound area will enjoy discounts from a wide range of well-known local merchants. Participating Portland merchants include New Seasons Market, Whole Foods, Portland Center Stage, OMSI, Backyard Bird Shop, Hotlips Pizza, Miller Paint, Portland Nursery and Grand Central Baking.
In Seattle/Puget Sound, participating merchants include PCC Natural Markets, Whole Foods, Marlene's Markets, Pharmaca, REI, Seattle Art Museum, Seattle Children's Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Cupcake Royale, Caffe Ladro, Rodda Paint and ecohaus.
