GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo., May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CIBER was recently awarded the status of a preferred business partner for mail order companies in Germany by the German E-Commerce and Distance Selling Trade Association (bvh). The main purpose of the bvh partner program is to provide its more than 300 members qualified potential providers of services essential for mail-order companies. To be considered for inclusion in the preferred business partner program, a provider must have at least two positive recommendations from bvh member companies.
"The status of preferred business partner is only granted to companies enjoying full confidence within our industry sector and which have already proved their reliability and quality," explains bvh President Thomas Lipke, who is also managing director of the outdoor retailer Globetrotter Ausrüstung, based in Hamburg. "The consultants of CIBER impressed us with their profound mail order know-how within the SAP environment – especially for multi-channel retailing: the combination of online shops, catalogues and over-the-counter trade. The mail-order industry needs IT-service providers to be a driving force to push future oriented topics within our industry sector," he added.
Driven by the Internet and e-commerce, interactive retailing is a vital growth sector. One of the most important prerequisites for mail order-companies to survive within the dynamic multi-channel marketplace is a flexible ERP system, which fulfills the requirements in terms of logistics and materials management. "Mail-order companies typically have huge amounts of business data and need user-friendly and highly automated real-time applications, as well as cross-linked process chains. Therefore, standard SAP software offers the optimal basis for them," said Andreas Mecheels, head of retail projects for CIBER in Germany. "We will continue to recommend that the SAP software package is the right solution to meet the business needs of mail-order providers."
In Germany, CIBER has developed a preconfigured SAP solution for multi-channel retailers, based on best practices and incorporating various add-ons, that reduces implementation time and complexity. CIBER is well-known as a specialist for implementing solutions within the mail-order sector and some of CIBER's leading customers within this industry sector are Globetrotter Ausrüstung, OTTO Office, Junghans Unternehmensgruppe and SSI Schafer Shop Versandhandelsgruppe.
Members of the bvh association are mainly mail order companies with catalogue and Internet offers, pure Internet traders, teleshopping companies, online drugstores or eBay Power sellers. The industry sector records more than 30 billion EURO revenue each year within the consumer business, with around 75 percent coming from members of the bvh.
CIBER is an official Special Expertise SAP Retail partner that has successfully delivered projects for more than 180 of the world's leading retail organizations.
