Circonus Launches Hi-Def Visualization Capabilities
A two-tiered approach for data collection which enables millisecond resolution for near-term monitoring and scalable rollups for historical analysis.
FULTON, Md., April 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Circonus, Inc., creators of the Circonus real-time monitoring and analytics platform and IRONdb time-series database, announced the addition of hi-def data ingestion and visualizations, which enable engineers to zoom in on graphs for millisecond resolution, an essential tool for debugging performance issues and analyzing IoT (Internet of Things) sensor data. Effective immediately, Circonus and IRONdb now store raw data for 4 weeks, in addition to 1-minute resolution rollups, indefinitely.
This new two-tiered approach gives engineers flexibility by not limiting how much data can be collected in the short term (which supports the accuracy of analysis) and after 4 weeks, data is rolled up at 1-minute intervals. When histogram data is used to create these rollups, the rollups can preserve the complete distribution of data for the best possible data preservation and accurate data recall.
Circonus can store the complete distribution of histogram data at 1-minute resolution, indefinitely. This innovation yields an ideal methodology for the rollup approach, because it rolls up data only once, and stores a distribution instead of an average. It's the most scalable and provides the most accurate analytics of any rollup.
Circonus and IRONdb are the first platform to use both approaches. By storing both raw data and 1-minute resolution rollups, engineers are afforded near-term millisecond resolution, while retaining the performance benefits of rollups that load years of data in seconds. The launch of Hi-Def visualizations yields even more accuracy and scalability for the Circonus customer.
