BOSTON, April 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Citizen Public House is releasing its secret stash of Old Rip Van Winkle Whiskey in a special package it is calling the "Pappy Meal." On Mondays, starting today, a limited supply of "Pappy Meals" will be available on the daily special board. The "Pappy Meal" will come in a box including:
- a rotating two-ounce pour of Van Winkle whiskey in a house-branded bottle,
- a serving of chef Joe Levandowski's bread-and-butter pickles,
- a bag of house-made beef jerky,
- a toy,
- and surprises.
"When a guest starts laying out $30 or $50 of their hard-earned money for a straight pour of whiskey, we think there should be some ceremony to it," says bartender Sean Frederick.
Pappy Van Winkle is considered one of the best bourbons in the world and its production levels make it exclusive.
With seven single-barrels exclusive to The Citizen, there are over 200 whiskies available. Whiskey flights, a whiskey club, and a whiskey of the week are also offered. Every night at The Citizen one whole roasted pig dinner is offered to parties of ten or more, and soon diners will have the option of adding a whiskey pairing to the pig roast.
THE CITIZEN PUBLIC HOUSE & OYSTER BAR, of the Franklin Restaurant Group, is a modern neighborhood tavern located behind "Boston's cathedral," Fenway Park. Chef Joe Levandowski's menu is a creative execution of tavern cuisine, including a whole roasted pig dinner for ten with all the trimmings. The bar features Joy Richard's craft cocktails, California wines by the bottle, a selection of over 200 whiskeys, and local micro-brews by the pint or half-pint.
