LUBBOCK, Texas, Oct. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- City Bank will kickoff its eighth annual Community Rewards with a reception October 22 at 5:30 p.m. at the Griffith Center (located on the lower floor of the City Bank Main Branch at 5219 City Bank Parkway) where it will announce exciting changes to this year's program, expanding both the money available to local nonprofit agencies and the number of agencies that will share in those "Rewards."
Changes to this year's program include increasing the total amount rewarded from $50,000 to $60,000 and the number of winners from 10 to 18. Six $500 "Early Rewards" will also be presented at this year's kickoff reception.
"What we do is a tiny drop in the bucket to the incredible and never-ending services provided by these agencies, their staffs and volunteers," said City Bank President and CEO Cory T. Newsom. "The demands on these nonprofits grow every year and we are excited to grow our program as well to help better meet the needs of these difference-makers in some small way."
Lubbock-area residents* will determine this year's winners by voting at citybankonline.com daily for their favorite charity from November 1 - December 13. Votes will be tallied in each of six categories (Basic Human Needs, Health & Wellness, Child Development & Advocacy, Education & Youth Services, Community Development & Leadership, and Animal Welfare & Environment) and first-, second- and third-place winners within each category will be awarded $5,000, $2,500 and $1,000 respectively. The top overall vote-getter will receive an additional $5,000. Registration deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 28. Winners will be announced the week before Christmas.
