"We are pleased to host AltCar Expo in Oakland," states Libby Schaaf, Mayor, City of Oakland. "Creating sustainable transportation is something we've made great progress on, and we look forward to more advances in the years to come as the state launches new infrastructure, which will help people fuel vehicles with cleaner solutions for the environment. AltCar Expo is an opportunity for the public to learn about their choices, the rebates and upcoming opportunities that will help them make more informed choices."
AltCar includes a government/industry conference featuring announcements and debuts providing clean vehicle options for Bay Area residents and businesses.
With more than 5.5 million on-road motor vehicles in the region, tailpipe emissions account for more than 40% of the criteria air pollutants and about 36% greenhouse gases (GHG) generated in the Bay Area. For this reason, emission reductions from the on-road transportation sector are essential to attaining state and federal ambient air quality standards and to meeting the region's GHG reduction commitments. To achieve the region's air quality improvement goals, Jack P. Broadbent, Executive Officer of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, will be announcing its commitment to invest $14 million over the next two years on electric vehicles and charging stations at the Conference.
Event partners include: The Bay Area Air Quality Management District, Bay Area Climate Collaborative, Breathe California, East Bay, San Francisco & Silicon Valley Clean Cities, The Association of Bay Area Governments, PG&E, and others.
