NEW YORK, June 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- City Parks Foundation, En Otro Tono, and La Marqueta Retona are thrilled to announce that renowned Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez Domínguez will perform a SummerStage Concert in Central Park on September 10, 2017. The concert will mark the first time in 7 years that the celebrated leader of the Cuban "Nueva Trova" movement will perform in the United States. Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and guitarist Tito Auger will open the show.
The iconic poet and guitarist will perform songs from his latest album, Amoríos (2015), alongside his classic hits. He will be accompanied by Rachid López (guitar), Maikel Elizarde (tres), Niurka González (flutist and clarinetist), Oliver Valdés (drummer and percussionist), Jorge Reyes (double bassist), Jorge Aragón (pianist), and Emilio Vega (vibraphonist).
Silvio Rodríguez last performed in New York in 2010 to a sold-out crowd. The show was his first performance in the United States in 30 years.
SummerStage is New York City's largest free outdoor performing arts festival, annually bringing more than 100 performances to Central Park and 15 neighborhood parks throughout the five boroughs. Proceeds from SummerStage Benefit Shows help make SummerStage's free programs possible.
