Rockville Based Green Energy Company Wins Green Co. of the Year Category at 2010 Maryland Incubator Company of the Year Awards
ROCKVILLE, Md., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Clean Currents, a leading green energy company in the Mid-Atlantic, was awarded "Green Company of the Year" at the tenth annual Maryland Incubator Company of the Year Awards (ICOY) ceremony held in Baltimore Tuesday evening. Sponsored by the Maryland Department of Business & Economic Development, the Maryland Technology Development Corporation, Saul Ewing LLP, and RSM McGladrey, Inc. The tenth annual Maryland ICOY publicly recognizes achievements by current clients and graduates of the Maryland Business Incubator Association.

The ICOY awards were chosen in nine categories by a selection committee of regional industry leaders and early-stage investors. The categories included best Life Sciences, Information Technology, Technology Services, New Incubator, Technology Transfer, Homeland Security, Graduate Company, and Green Company. Depending on the category, award recipients were selected based on the following criteria: success in achieving objectives, product development, growth, investment, and impact on the region.
Clean Currents has been operating out of the Rockville Innovation Center, part of the Montgomery County Incubator network, since 2007. From humble beginnings, Clean Currents has steadily grown into the region's leading clean energy company, offering innovative green solutions to businesses and residents. Clean Currents has remained committed to community involvement, chiefly through its grassroots program; the Green Neighborhood Challenge. To date, almost 100 communities have enrolled in the Challenge. Through the Challenge Clean Currents works with community leaders to educate people about living a more sustainable lifestyle; advocating for environmental legislation, and greening their community.
