Clear Conscience Pet treats are unmatched in the industry, unsurpassed in quality and nutrition, and unequaled to any other treats on the market. The company is dedicated to the philosophy of "Treating Your Pet with Clear Conscience." This encompasses every aspect of how they source, make, and formulate their treats and chews including: Sliders, SuperGravy Food Topper, Cruncherz Dog Biscuits and patent-pending OSV Meaty Treats.

As responsible pet owners, it is important to prevent unhealthy additives in the food and treats we provide for our pets. Many brands of commercial dog treats are filled with preservatives, which help to extend their shelf life. For instance, the challenge of making moist meaty treats has led to almost universal use of glycerins, propylene glycol, potassium sorbate, and other preservatives and fillers designed to keep moist treats shelf stable and keep their manufacturing costs low and boost their profits.

Clear Conscience Pet Chief Nutrition Officer and founder Anthony Bennie contends that by listing these ingredients on labels with innocent sounding names such as "vegetable glycerin" companies are being less than forthcoming with consumers. The gummy texture that is typical in soft treats is largely because of the use of syrupy glycerin in these formulas. Glycerin is used as a mold inhibitor and stabilizer in moist treat manufacturing. It has a sweet taste and can raise blood sugar levels, which contributes to obesity and can exacerbate diabetic or pre-diabetic conditions in dogs. Bennie has stated in recent radio interviews that he feels that the widespread use of glycerin in pet treats has not received nearly enough scrutiny.

"Manufacturers should not be able to call a product made with glycerin 'all natural' when it does not appear naturally in the food stream," Bennie said. "Vegetable glycerin used in pet treats is a by-product of the manufacturing of soaps."

Clear Conscience Pet, in keeping with their natural sourcing pledge, refused to employ these methods and instead underwent a three-year research and development process to reinvent the soft-moist pet treat category. The result is a trade secret, however the company reveals that success of the project depended on a proprietary formulation, a natural preservation method, and special packaging technology.

This is one of many examples of how Clear Conscience Pet goes above and beyond to create holistically formulated, cleanly sourced, and artisan prepared nutritional products for both dogs and cats. Their dream and vision has been to follow a philosophy of uncompromising quality, ethics, and dedication to animals to go far beyond the products of the past and invent new breakthroughs that essentially reinvent their product categories to set a new standard for the future.
