Clearly Contacts Hires 250th Vancouver Employee as Online Eyeglasses Orders Stream In

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Clearly, has hired its 250th employee in Vancouver this week in order to keep up with the increasing online eyeglasses demand.  The Vancouver based company, a subsidiary of Coastal Contacts, is the world's largest online retailer of eyeglasses and contact lenses, and has hired 30 new employees in the past month alone.  

The majority of positions filled have been for Clearly Contacts' onsite eyeglasses manufacturing facility.  Additional lab technicians and certified opticians have been added, as well as positions in customer service and information technology.  The Company serves over 150 countries around the world and has approximately 385 employees worldwide.

"We have hired over 70 employees in the past year to work in our eyeglasses lab.  We are knocking down walls, adding new machines, and creating offices in every corner of our space.  I have never seen anything like this before," stated Clearly Contacts Vice President of North American Sales, Steve Wallace.

The online retailing giant manufactures eyeglasses in Vancouver, Canada so they can ship to customers faster than competitors and ensure the quality is of the highest standard, before they are sent out the door.  This sets them apart from other online eyeglasses retailers who outsource manufacturing.  

"We sell eyeglasses for up to 70% less than optical stores, because we buy directly from manufacturers, and pass our savings on to our customers.  When consumers discover that they can buy the exact same pair of glasses from us that they had bought in a store for less than half the price, they tell their friends and family," explains Wallace.

Clearly Contacts, which was named as one of BC's top 55 employers last year, will host another job fair this week to fill even more positions opening at the Company.  Growth at Clearly Contacts has been consistently strong at around 20-25% annually since being founded over the 10 years ago.
